Silver Electrolysis System is mainly used to treat Dore alloy from copper/lead anode slime and WEEE recycling, mixed silver with crude gold from cyanide gold slime smelting and other silver-bearing scrap and jewelry.Silver ER is performed in FRPP electrolytic cells. Silver anode plate and titanium plate are used as anode and cathode respectively. The electrolyte is diluted silver nitrate made from nitric acid and silver powder. During operation, silver dissolves at the anode and deposits at the cathode. Copper content also dissolves in the solution. Lead and bismuth is hydrolyzed into oxides, and the gold, the majority of platinum, palladium are insoluble, which report to anode slime.

Advantages of Silver Electrolysis System
High Efficiency
Achieves recovery rates exceeding 95%, ensuring minimal loss of valuable material.
Superior Purity
Produces silver with purity levels up to 99.9% (3N), suitable for reuse in jewelry, electronics, and investment-grade bullion.
Environmentally Friendly
Compared to chemical precipitation or smelting, electrolysis generates less hazardous waste and avoids toxic fumes when operated correctly.
Automation & Scalability
Modern systems can be fully automated, reducing labor costs and enabling continuous processing of large volumes.
Cost-Effective
Once the initial investment is made, operating costs are relatively low due to minimal chemical consumption and energy efficiency.
Traceability & Control
Operators can monitor and adjust parameters like current density and electrolyte concentration for optimal results.
Applications of Silver Electrolysis System
Jewelry Manufacturing
In the jewelry industry, silver electrolysis machines are integral to both refining raw silver and applying high-quality plating finishes. These machines enable jewelers to recover and purify scrap silver to 99.9%+ purity, ensuring consistency in material quality and reducing reliance on external suppliers.
Medical and Dental Device Production
The medical and dental fields demand ultra-pure materials due to strict biocompatibility and sterilization requirements. Silver electrolysis machines ensure that silver used in surgical instruments, implants, and dental alloys is free from contaminants that could compromise patient safety.
Aerospace and Electronics Industries
In aerospace and electronics, silver’s superior electrical conductivity and thermal stability make it a preferred material for critical components. Electrolysis ensures the silver used in connectors, switches, and circuitry meets exacting performance standards under extreme conditions.
Industrial Silver Plating Services
Specialized plating services rely on silver electrolysis machines to offer precision surface finishing for a variety of industrial clients. These machines allow for controlled deposition of silver layers tailored to specific thickness, adhesion, and functional requirements.
Specifications of Silver Electrolysis System
Power Supply (Transformer kVA Rating)
The power supply capacity of a silver electrolysis machine is determined by the transformer's kVA (kilovolt-ampere) rating. This directly affects the machine’s ability to deliver consistent current during the electrolysis process.
Operating Voltage
Operating voltage determines the electrical potential applied across the electrolytic cell, which drives the ionization and deposition of silver. Most silver recovery units operate within a range of 6–10 volts, optimized for efficient metal separation without excessive energy consumption.
Electrolytic Cell Size & Capacity
The electrolytic cell is where the actual silver recovery takes place. Its physical dimensions and volume determine the processing capacity of the machine.
Electrode Materials
The electrodes—particularly the anode—are crucial components that influence efficiency, durability, and purity of recovered silver. Most machines use either lead or titanium anodes, often coated with catalytic materials such as ruthenium oxide or iridium oxide.
Machine Size and Weight
Silver electrolysis machines vary significantly in physical footprint and weight, especially between benchtop models and full-scale industrial units. Compact models are suitable for small labs or mobile operations, while larger systems may require dedicated floor space and structural support.
Electrolysis Processing Time
This refers to the duration required to recover silver from a given volume of solution to a desired level of efficiency. Processing time depends on multiple factors including silver concentration, cell size, current density, voltage settings, and electrode condition.
Raw Material Preparation: Pyrometallurgical treatment of copper/lead anode slime yields a silver-gold alloy, or pyrometallurgical smelting of gold cyanide slime yields crude silver.
Electrolytic Refining: Electrolysis is performed using the alloy as the anode, silver sheet as the cathode, and silver nitrate solution as the electrolyte, under direct current.
Post-Processing: Silver powder is washed, dried, and cast into ingots to obtain the finished product. The anode slime is further processed to recover precious metals (such as gold and platinum group metals).

Working Principle of Silver Electrolysis System
Anode (Positive Electrode)
Typically made from silver-containing scrap or impure silver. During electrolysis, silver atoms at the anode oxidize and dissolve into the electrolyte solution as positively charged silver ions (Ag⁺).
Cathode (Negative Electrode)
Usually a pure metal starter sheet or stainless steel plate. The dissolved silver ions in the solution are attracted to this negatively charged surface, where they gain electrons and are reduced back into solid metallic silver, depositing evenly onto the cathode.
Electrolyte Solution
A conductive solution containing silver salts—commonly silver nitrate (AgNO₃) or a cyanide-based solution in industrial setups. This medium allows the flow of ions between the electrodes, completing the electrical circuit.
Power Source
A direct current (DC) power supply drives the entire process, maintaining a consistent voltage and current to ensure controlled and efficient silver transfer.
Maintenance
Consult the User Manual: Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer’s guidelines, maintenance schedule, recommended spare parts, and safety precautions. Each model may have unique requirements based on design and components used.
Adhere to Maintenance Schedules: Never skip scheduled servicing. Regular inspections and part replacements prevent unexpected breakdowns and costly downtime, especially in continuous-use environments.
Monitor Electrolyte Solution: Check the concentration, pH, temperature, and clarity of the electrolyte regularly. Contaminated or imbalanced solutions reduce recovery efficiency and may damage electrodes or the cell lining.
Verify Power Input: Ensure the incoming power supply matches the machine’s voltage and phase requirements. Voltage fluctuations or incorrect connections can damage transformers, control circuits, or motors.
Clean Electrodes Regularly: Remove accumulated sludge, crust, or oxidation from lead or titanium anodes. Build-up insulates the surface, reducing conductivity and slowing down the recovery process.
Lubricate Moving Parts: If the machine includes pumps, agitators, or adjustable components, apply high-quality, non-conductive grease or oil as specified by the manufacturer to prevent wear and seizure.
Inspect Cooling Systems: For water-cooled models, check the cooling circuit for leaks, blockages, and proper flow rate. Maintain stable coolant temperature to prevent overheating of critical components like rectifiers or transformers.
Monitor Performance Indicators: Watch for signs of inefficiency such as longer processing times, reduced silver yield, unusual noises, or warning lights. Early detection of issues allows for timely intervention.
